One sheet of paper. A handful of pennies. A die. That is the entire game.

Money Moves: Race to Your Goal is a printable family money game for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 to 15, that runs eight rounds in about twenty minutes. Every round everybody makes the same decision at the same time: take the safe job, gamble on the shared gig, or spend what you have saved and buy a goal. Hands go behind backs, you count down from three, and everyone reveals at once.

That reveal is where the game lives. The gig pays 5 if you are the only one who picked it, and only 1 each if all four of you pile in. So the real question every round is not what you want to do. It is what everybody else is about to do. Kids work that out fast, and they get loud about it.

No ledger, no math homework, no player sheets

Money is physical. Grab about sixty pennies, dried beans, buttons, pasta or Lego bricks and that is your bank. Earning means taking coins. Buying means paying them. Nobody writes a balance down, nobody adds a column of numbers, and nobody needs a calculator. An eight year old tracks it perfectly because they can see it on the table.

That is also why the print load is one sheet no matter how many people play. No player sheets. No cutting. No pencils. Two players or four, it is still one page.

What it actually teaches, without teaching

Four goals sit on the board, from a small one at 5 coins up to Dream Bigger at 11. The big ones are worth far more points per coin, so patience genuinely pays... but every round you spend saving is a round you are not buying, and the game is only eight rounds long.

Then the bills arrive. Two of the six events are surprise expenses, and if you cannot pay one, you hand back a goal you already bought. No refund. Points gone. Suddenly the cushion you kept is not boring money sitting there doing nothing... it is the thing protecting everything you worked for. Kids feel that lesson in about four seconds, which is roughly four years faster than being told it.

Round eight is Clearance: every goal drops in price, no roll. Whoever held something back gets one last shot at a goal they could not afford before. The game ends on a decision instead of trailing off.

Can you buy all four goals?

Just barely. The numbers are tuned so that a perfect run gets there with nothing to spare, and one unlucky bill puts it out of reach. Most games are won with three. That last one is the brag.

The family guide, included

Four extra pages for whoever is running it: what each part of the game is quietly teaching, a full worked three-round game you can read before you play, the questions kids always ask, five variations (short game, two-player, ages 6 to 8, hard mode, teams) and three questions worth asking when it is over. Keep it on your screen or print it once.

Who this is for

Families who want a game night that is actually a game. Homeschool parents covering earning, saving, spending and opportunity cost without a worksheet. Teachers who need a twenty minute activity that needs no prep and no supplies cupboard. Youth group and after school leaders. Grandparents who want something to do at the table that is not a screen.

How delivery works

Nothing ships. The download link appears right after checkout and is emailed to you as well, so you can grab it on a phone, tablet or computer. Print it as many times as you like for your own household, or for one educator's own classes.

No die in the house? Write 1 to 6 on six folded slips of paper, draw one, put it back and shuffle before the next draw. It works exactly the same.

Educational material only. It teaches how money works and does not provide personal financial, legal, tax, credit or investment advice. All money and prices in the game are pretend, and the figures are round numbers chosen to make the game teachable rather than realistic.

Create. Inspire. Empower.
